Question 1

Is RiftStorage a good Dropbox alternative?

Accepted Answer

Dropbox requires a verified identity to sign up. RiftStorage encrypts files in transit and at rest and issues anonymous accounts, so there is no identity attached to your files. If your priority is encrypted storage with an account that carries no personal identity, RiftStorage is the stronger choice. Pick Dropbox if desktop folder sync, long version history and a large third-party integration ecosystem matter more to you than anonymity and an ad-free service.

Question 2

What can RiftStorage do that Dropbox cannot?

Accepted Answer

Compared with Dropbox, RiftStorage offers: zero personal data collection; no ai training on your files; anonymous accounts; completely ad-free; time-limited share links; no account required to view shares.

Question 3

Does Dropbox encrypt files at rest?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Dropbox and RiftStorage both encrypt files at rest. The difference is identity: RiftStorage accounts need no email address, phone number or personal data.
